National charity warns of threat to historic Grange Court
Wednesday 25 March 2009: Redevelopment plans for Leominster’s historic Grange Court are too destructive, according to the Victorian Society. It is strongly objecting to proposals which include the complete internal demolition of the Victorian and Edwardian additions to the building.
Historic font saved after landmark ruling by church court
Thursday 19 March 2009: The Victorian Society has welcomed a decision by one of the highest courts in the Church of England to prevent a Somerset parish selling a font out of its listed church. The Court of the Arches decided that St Peter’s Church in Draycott was not facing a financial emergency.
Call for sensitive redevelopment of Altrincham’s historic TB hospital
Friday 13 March 2009: The Victorian Society is appealing to potential developers not to demolish St Anne’s Home in Bowden. The buildings are to be sold by Trafford NHS trust in order to finance plans for the town's general hospital.
Don’t demolish part of Clitheroe’s history
Wednesday 4 March 2009:
The Victorian society is calling on Ribble Valley Council to incorporate the former Clitheroe workhouse into plans to build housing on the outskirts of the town. The building is currently home to Clitheroe's community hospital.
