New book celebrates Birmingham’s Victorian and Edwardian architects

Monday 21 September 2009: During the 19th century there was a marked preference in Birmingham for using local architects to design local buildings. Now, for the first time a new publication brings together the work of the leading practitioners of the period.

Monday 14 September 2009: SAVING A CENTURY celebrates fifty years of The Victorian Society. The photographic exhibition, curated by noted architectural historian and author Gavin Stamp, shows the best Victorian and Edwardian buildings and structures from around the country that the Society has campaigned to save for the nation.

Historic Halifax church plays host to Victorian festival

Thursday 3 September 2009: Two national heritage organisations are descending on Halifax this weekend to mark the 150th anniversary of one the town’s major landmarks.
