New Director at the Victorian Society

Chris Costelloe begins work as the Society's new Director

Chris Costelloe, new Director of the Victorian Society

Christopher Costelloe, formerly Senior Conservation Adviser at the Society, has taken over from Dr Ian Dungavell.

As a qualified stonemason, Christopher has unusual hands-on experience of building conservation. For the last two years he has been Conservation Adviser for the Victorian Society.

"I know first hand what a difference the Victorian Society makes," said Chris, "and I am very excited to be taking over as its Director. Unfortunately there is still so much for us to do, but it is gratifying to have so much public support for our campaigns."

Professor Hilary Grainger, Chair of the Victorian Society, said: "Chris is just the person to take over at this exciting stage of our development. He combines an intimate knowledge of casework with excellent leadership skills, and we are sure that he will be a great success."

The former Director, Dr Ian Dungavell, has now left to become the first Chief Executive at the Friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust. Professor Grainger said "Ian has made an outstanding contribution to the work of the Society" and added, "we wish him every success in his new post."
