Sandwich lunches may be ordered on arrival, at your own cost.

Day School: Victorian Philanthropy in the West Midlands
£35 including lunch & refreshments
The Victorian period is known for the individuals, and indeed families, who felt that they had a duty, responsibility or calling to give to society.This day school will look the individuals, some of them lesser known names, who made a contribution to Birmingham and the West Midlands. We will look at both their motivations and what they did as well as the associated buildings and institutions.
Henrietta Lockhart will set the context with an overview of these philanthropists and presentations will include the Pollock brothers who established St Albans church in Birmingham and Nigel Easam on the foundation of the Birmingham & Midland Institute

Local History Fair at the BMI
10.30 am – 4.00 pm
£1 entry. A chance to see the publications and work of a number of local heritage organisations including the Victorian Society.
Monday June 11th Day
Visit to Abberley Hall School & Witley Court

Additional entry charge to Witley Court for non - members of English Heritage
Following our award to Dudley Council for the restoration of the Market Place fountain we are going to view the larger Perseus & Andromeda Fountain at Witley Court, also commissioned by the Earl of Dudley. In the morning we will have a guided tour of nearby Abberley Hall School, (not normally open to the public) - 1840s design by Samuel Daukes as a private house with an iconic clock tower. Final bookings May 29th.

£5 entrance charge payable on the day.
