Guided Tour of Dewsbury Arcade and West Yorkshire Victorian Society AGM

Dewsbury is a fine West Yorkshire market town which was once the heart of the ‘shoddy’ wool recycling industry. The 1889 Holton and Fox designed Grade II* Town Hall has recently been renovated and the Grade II 1899 Arcade is currently being repaired and refurbished. The Arcade will be brought back into use as a community-run shopping centre, with a planned reopening in summer 2026.
Join us at 10.30am for a tour of the Arcade, then at 11.00am the West Yorkshire Victorian Society AGM will take place at Dewsbury Town Hall.
At 11.30am there will be talks from two expert local speakers:
  • Rosalind Arden on Dewsbury
  • Charles Smith, Policy Director at English Heritage, on its work and challenges in West Yorkshire
The Arcade and Town Hall are a 5 minute walk from Dewsbury Railway Station.
Booking via Eventbrite is required for the hard hat tour of Dewsbury Arcade (as spaces are limited).
Attendance is free for members of the Victorian Society. A cash donation is invited as a contribution towards the costs incurred in running the event.
