Help stop the demolition of one of the earliest Victorian homes built near Lammas Park

6 Marlborough Road Ealing – also known as Clive Lodge

The Society are calling for people to object now to stop the demolition of 6 Marlborough Road – also known as Clive Lodge – in Ealing. The property is one of the earliest homes built in this leafy part of West London.

Located near Lammas Park, the demolition of the entire locally listed Victorian house is being proposed by a developer who is back seeking permission after his first planning application was refused two years ago.

Maps show that the dwelling on plot 878 was one of the first houses in the area. As one of the earliest dwellings built in this part of Ealing this home has considerable significance. The extract shows the first house to be built in the position of number 6.

The house is an important dwelling in the history of “the Queen of Suburbs”. The house is attractive, and a significant part of the architectural and artistic history of Ealing.

This distinctive, unique building was recently a perfectly serviceable let property.

Clive Lodge was home to Andrew Spiller, a 1950/1960s author and crime writer. The novelist was very prolific in his time.

There are better ways to provide more housing, without destroying Ealing’s character.

Recently the community, local Civic Society and the Victorian Society saved the East Lodge at nearby Lammas Park, the Society hope that community action can save Clive Lodge on Marlborough Road too.

To Make an Objection

Please object by 13th November 2025 to planning application Ref: 253085FUL on this page on Ealing Council’s planning portal here.
