Teulon’s Holy Trinity in Hastings to lose its choir stalls despite objections

The Society are deeply saddened that despite our objections and concerns from Historic Buildings &Places, the Church Buildings Council and the local Council, the Diocese of Chichester Consistory Court have given permission to remove most of the choir stalls from Holy Trinity Church. This is an important Grade II* building by SS Teulon, noted for its rich interior and fittings. Some years ago the church saw a major re-ordering which turned most of the interior into a flexible space, with the chancel remaining intact. We are disappointed that the Chancellor of the Consistory Court did not judge that this part of the building should be preserved with its fittings whole.

However, we welcome approval of necessary restoration works to the fabric of the building.
