Would you like to organise events for the The Victorian Society?

Do you love visiting Victorian and Edwardian heritage or hearing talks about it? Would you like to organise visits to places the public don’t ordinarily get to see? If so, the The Victorian Society Events Committee is the place for you.

The Events Committee creates the The Victorian Society’s programme of events about Victorian and Edwardian heritage. Members organise events including talks and walks, online talks series, visits, activity weekends, study days and overseas trips. The programme is intended to engage members, attract new audiences, and ultimately raise money to support our charitable aims of saving Victorian and Edwardian buildings.

The committee meets three times a year to plan future events and examine event strategy and policies.
No previous specific event experience is required but you need to enjoy organising and, when promoting an event, be willing to fill out a form summarising the event to enable the Society to promote it. Ideally, committee members should attend the three annual Events Committee meetings and plan two or more events each year.

The planning of an event is supported by the Society’s Events Co-ordinator and, in some cases, other members of the Events Committee. The committee member normally attends the events they have organised, and their expenses will be covered. We welcome applications from Young Victorians or other under-represented groups.
