Henry Lord was the architect of many buildings in Victorian and Edwardian Manchester and Salford. In a lengthy career he designed schools, libraries, hospital buildings and offices, usually in his characteristic red brick and terracotta, many of which still grace his home city of Salford. They include the Technical Institute (now part of Salford University), The Queen’s Jubilee Nurses Home (now the Working Class Movement Library) and Salford Museum and Library, all on The Crescent, and Salford Lads Club.
