Talk: More Wallpaper, Vicar? A Talk by Rowena Beighton-Dykes

Rowena will explore the socio-economic and political context of wallpaper purchases by members of the Anglican Church in the 19th century.

This illustrated talk will show how funding supported the development of new clergy houses, leading to an increase in wallpaper purchases by members of the clergy during the Victorian period.

Rowena Beighton-Dykes is a researcher and writer specialising in period wallpaper. She is Honorary Chair of the Wallpaper History Society and editor of the Review, the journal of the Wallpaper History Society.

The Liverpool Regional group of the Victorian Society raises awareness of the Victorian architectural heritage of all of Merseyside and further into Cheshire and South-West Lancashire through events including visits and talks.
