The book is a beautifully illustrated account of London that tells the story of the city, (arguably) at the height of its power. Andrew Saint uses buildings, architecture, literature, and art as a way into understanding social and historical phenomena.

Andrew is very kindly donating all royalties of the book to the The Victorian Society.

To celebrate the launch of the book, Andrew Saint will be leading a series of online talks, hosted by the The Victorian Society.

Like the book, the talks will run chronologically, covering the development of the British capital at a time when, in the speaker’s view, it reached its highest position on the world stage.
