Rowena Beighton-Dykes Liverpool Group Chair

The Victorian Society is delighted to welcome Rowena Beighton-Dykes to the role of Chair of our Liverpool Regional Group. Having moved to the Wirral in 2019 Rowena became involved with local history research and events, and appreciates the rich cultural heritage that makes the region such a great place to live.

Rowena’s career has spanned working in period costume in television through to lecturing in design history across a range of design disciplines, specialising in historic interiors. She has a Masters in The English Country House from the University of Leicester, focusing particularly on period wallpaper. Her articles have been published in The Victorian, The Quarterly, (the journal of the British Association of Paper Historians) and The Review, (the journal of the Wallpaper History Society). She is Honorary Chair of the Wallpaper History Society and has been editor of the WHS Review since 2020.

Rowena Beighton-Dykes, Chair of the Society’s Liverpool Regional Group, said, “I am looking forward to engaging with others in the Victorian Society and collaborating with organisations in the local region to stimulate new activities and events to support the values of the Society. I would be pleased to hear from members who would like to explore any appropriate prospects for the Victorian Society’s Liverpool Regional Group.”
