Hunters Bar, Sheffield’s Westward Expansion with Nigel Slack

For this year’s Heritage Open Days – A Walk around Victorian Hunters Bar in Sheffield with The Victorian Society.

Starting at the gates of Endcliffe Park by Hunters Bar roundabout, we will walk around the Hunters Bar area taking in monuments placed here from the city centre, looking at residential expansion, schools, local industry, religious buildings and civic services. We will see how the area around Hunters Bar started as a green country valley before growing into a leafy suburb of Sheffield’s Westward expansion. The walk will be led by Nigel Slack, Chair of The Victorian Society, South Yorkshire.

Meet at Endcliffe Park entrance by Hunters Bar roundabout S11 8TG. Please note that the postcode is not exact. Pre-booking is required as places are limited. If you haven’t booked, you are likely to be turned away for health and safety reasons.

Access:
The walk will be on some uneven surfaces with steps and potentially steep sections.
We will be crossing very busy roads. There is on street parking nearby and toilets / refreshments in Endcliffe Park, not on the walk route.
