June Diamond

The West Yorkshire Group are very sorry to share the news of the passing of our friend and former Chair, June Diamond.

June was the long-time Chair of the West Yorkshire Group of the Victorian Society after overseeing its revitalisation some 10 years ago. She organised a huge variety of talks and walks, and was a key figure in the organisation of the Society’s AGM and weekend visit to Bradford in 2024, researching and writing most of the notes for participants. Very recently she researched and led an exploration of Burley, and worked on a piece on a local Victorian terrace just a week or so before she died.

She was hugely committed to the values and work of the Victorian Society, and in this she was supported and sustained by her friendship with three other local Vic Soc heroes, Janet Douglas, Chris Hammond and Chris Webster.

June was scholarly, hard-working and great fun. She was witty, feisty and – sometimes – sardonic. She is survived by her three children Isobel, James and Patrick.

The Society will miss her greatly.
